City of Columbia Contests

CSA Contests

This is a perfect STEM learning project for the coming Holiday months. Our Tinkercad “Solve a Problem” contest is a chance for you to create a solution for that problem that has been nagging you for some time. Or it might be an opportunity for you to create that “great new product” that that you feel people either want or need? Whatever the idea for the problem that you choose to solve, our contest has two age groups (grades 3-5 and grades 6-8).

2020 Contest Winners

This competition is closed for 2020 due to Covid-19.

We typically run the Sumobot Competition in the spring.  Due to Covid-19, it was cancelled last year but hopefully we will be able to run the competition this April or May 2021. Sumo-bot wrestling is a contest where two programmed LEGO Mindstorm (NXT or EV3) robot contestants are given 2 minutes to try to push or flip each other out of a circular ring. The first robot to be removed from the ring or rendered immobile loses. The last robot remaining in the ring or mobile wins.
