Explore the exciting lives of birds including raptors, songbirds, marine birds, and more. This course takes students on a journey of exploration through dissection, engineering bird beaks, art, and making a birdhouse. This course integrates the engineering design process, math, art, fine motor skills, scientific identification, higher level thinking skills and more.

This course takes students on a fall-themed STEAM journey! We will explore pumpkins by making predictions, drawing conclusions, dissecting and using graphing skills. Ocean Exploration: Hurricanes and Oil Spills!

This course takes students on a journey to the ocean. Students will try to save a town from a hurricane, learn about levees and be challenged to build and test one, use engineering skills to design a house strong enough to withstand a windstorm, explore the effects of oil spills on the environment and simulate a cleanup effort.

Things in Water: Explore Ducks, Frogs, Floating and Sinking!

Explore all things water in this STEAM course focusing on ducks, frogs, floating, and sinking. 

Exploratory questions will include: 

Why does water roll off a ducks’ back? How can ducks spend so much time swimming in water, even when it’s cold? Why do frogs say ribbit? How does gravity and buoyancy effect boats? Students will experiment with buoyancy, try to build a boat that holds the most passengers, and more!

steAM: Art and Math: Patterns, Paper Houses, Protractors and more!

This is a GIRLS IN STEM course!

Step into a world where math and art rule the day! We will use math concepts to build paper houses, create lava lamps, make a multiplication grid, and use a protractor to create art patterns inspired by Frank Stella who created more than 100 paintings based on the shape of a protractor. Other featured projects may include stained glass, mosaics and geometric art.

Fairytale STEAM

This is a GIRLS IN STEM course!

This course takes students into the wondrous world of fairy tales! Engineer the strongest house to keep out the Big Bad Wolf, build an escape for Rapunzel, or maybe create a troll-proof bridge for the Three Billy Goats. In addition, students will make fairy tale-themed snacks and a miniature fairy garden.
