Columbia STEM Alliance board members are excited to be helping students in Columbia, MO

The Columbia STEM Alliance is a 501-3c nonprofit organization formed to support students in Columbia, Missouri, and we want to get our community more involved with our initiatives so we can thrive together. Our main focus for the 2018-2019 school year will include several big initiatives:

  1. Support for our STEAM Bus and its continued operation.
  2. Development of a “Girls in STEM” camp for the summer of 2019. We are planning a camp for 50-plus girls (5th – 8th grades) with local women professionals from STEM fields as the instructors.
  3. Fundraise for the FIRST LEGO League Regional Competition to be held at Jefferson Middle School this coming November. (Last year we had over 30 LEGO robotics teams consisting of kids 9-14 years-old!)
  4. Last year, we were able to provide a Microbit to 1,600 students and educate them on how to code and create using this device, which we’d like to continue funding during this upcoming year as part of our Computer Science program.

We’re extremely excited about our future as an organization and what we can bring to Columbia’s students.
